Vivienne really likes her camouflage diaper cover. She's getting in touch with her "tough side."
We still use a couple disposable diapers at night, because we want to have a nice solid long sleeping pattern down before we do cloth diapers at night. Otherwise, we'll be changing cloth diapers 4-5 times a night, and we don't need to add any more workload onto our already tiring nights. (Luckily, the babies have been sleeping for much longer stretches the past 3 nights, so we might take the plunge soon and make the switch.)
We're also using reusable cloth wipes. They are basically small fabric squares (flannel in cute little patterns). I wet it with some water and wipe. They actually work much better than the disposable wipes. Who knew?
I really like that the cloth diapers save us money and have less of an impact on the environment. Plus, they're just ridiculously cute on the babies. I think it's probably better on their skin, too.
Ah, the reusable wipes! A friend tried to convince me to jump in with those, but I haven't yet. Maybe you'll persuade me to switch.
ReplyDeleteThe cloth wipes really aren't any inconvenience on top of the cloth diapers. We're washing those anyway, so the cloth wipes just made sense. But when we go out, I use the disposable one. When we get to solid foods, we'll probably switch back to disposable wipes. =)
ReplyDeleteWe never used the cloth wipes for changing. I ended up using them to clean up after meals when she started solids. I have heard you can actually wash the disposable wipes and use them as diaper liners or as wipes again. We have accidentally washed a lot of disposable wipes and it's amazing how well they hold up...
ReplyDeleteHi Leslie! I'm interested in hearing how those particular cloth diapers work for you. We are planning on trying Gro Via hybrid diapers & also Gdiapers (because they are easier to find in stores and a bit less expensive), but of course haven't had any practical use with them yet! The Gro Via's are really nice looking, so it will be interesting to see how well they work. =)
ReplyDeleteHi, Katie. I really like the prefolds with the proraps. The Bumkins that we have are ok, but they are too small already (we had XS). I ordered some Bummis covers on eBay, but they haven't gotten here yet. I'll let you know how I like those when I get them. I don't have any experience with Gro Via or Gdiapers. I've found that I prefer the plain white covers, because the colored/patterned ones show through the babies clothes sometimes. But the patterned ones look so darn cute when they are only wearing a diaper. =)
ReplyDeleteSo are you rinsing the poopy diapers or just tossing the whole business into the machine?
ReplyDeleteWe're just throwing them in the machine. The breastfeeding poop is so mild. Once we start solids, we'll be installing a sprayer (or two).
